Synda turned and grabbed him pulling him into the trees. She pushed him against the tree and stared at him. He kept still waiting to see what she would do.
She moved in and he met her. She slid her hands into his hair and kissed him. Jaden pulled her into him. He moved his hands down her back moaning at the feel of her under his hands. “Synda.” He walked toward her.
“We’re not leaving…yet.” Synda shrugged. “My clan for some reason trusts you. Trusts those here in Legend Cove who are helping us, so we will wait.” She stared at him. “For now. “You would leave me,” he said.
“We recognized each other from that first look,” Synda said. “But being mates doesn’t matter when it comes to what we both must do. Your life is here. Mine is with my clan until we are safe.” She turned away and straightened her shoulders. “I could say I will come back once it’s safe but…I don’t make promises I’m not sure I can keep.”
“You think you’ll die in order for them to be safe.” He moved forward.
“I’m the reason we are being hunted,” she said. “My past and all I’ve done is why we are. Someone who I killed is getting the best revenge. Caring is weakness.” She looked at him again over her shoulder again her expression fierce. “I will not care for you.”
“Too late.” Jaden reached her and grabbed her arm. “Your animal’s recognized me. And whatever the hell else you are did too.” He yanked her to face him. “My shadow recognized its shadow mate. You are mine and I am yours.” He stared into her stubborn eyes. “And you will not fucking leave me. I will hunt you down in this world and any realm or dimension.”
“Nice sentiment.” She stated. “Too bad this is reality and we have to live with we don’t always get what we want. This is not a fairytale where everyone gets their happy ever after.”
“Fuck the happy ever after. I want you,” Jaden said. “You. Whatever we can have.” He released her and stepped back. “I keep my word. Don’t leave.”
He turned and stepped into the shadows.
“I keep mine. And I will do what I need too.”
